What Do You Know About Google Ripples

Google Ripples is a graphic that is interactive, and is a really
cool way of viewing the shares of a post, as long as it is made
public. It can be any post or URL that is publicly shared on
Google+. Much like dropping a pebble in still water, it shows
how your information has rippled through the network.

What Google Ripples Shows You

When someone shares your post or URL on Google Ripples,
it will show all those that have reshared that post or URL. And
it will go on and on, showing the circles of people that keep
sharing to their circles. One quick way of determining the
influence a person has that is sharing is by the size of the
circle that person has.

This is just a rough estimate, as only
publicly shared items show up.   The comments users added
when they reshared a link are displayed in the sidebar of
Google Ripples, any comments that are included in the
share will also show up.

By simply hovering over the persons
name in the circle will show a brief profile of the person.
Clicking their name will take you right to their Google+
page so you can read more about the person to see if they
have similar likes.

You can also zoom in and out by using
the scroll function on your mouse, or alternately using the
scroll bar on the left of the display.

Google Ripples Will Show How Post Or
URL Was Shared Over Time

On the Ripples page at the bottom, there is an animated
visualization you can play that goes through the time frame
of the post to show how it was shared over that particular time.

Statistics On How A Post Or URL Was Shared
On Google Ripples

Google Ripples page statistics on the link are found beneath
the timeline. If someone is sharing hubs (people who had the
most reshares of the post), then the link that was shared will
show how it was shared, and in what language it was done.

Google Ripples Displays A Lot Of Cool Information

On thing to remember is the information you are looking at is
not entirely accurate. It doesn’t show all the action that has taken
place with the post or URL. It only shows the public data, whereas
that same post could had been shared 100’s of times in a group or
privately.

Just click the dropdown arrow at the top right corner of
the post you’re curious about and click View Ripples to see the
graph of all the shares. If the View Ripples link isn’t showing it is
because that information hasn’t been shared publicly yet. If it’s a
URL that you want to see the Ripples for, go to the Ripples dialog
and enter the URL in the top right corner.

A visualization of all the
public shares will open up. To determine if a post is public simply
look at the top of the post and if it is public it will have “Public”
displayed next to the time stamp. If you come across a post that
is really interesting, simply copy the URL and share the link in
your stream.
