CHAPTER [3] PROTEINS

Proteins

(4/6/2016)

Amino Acid Composition of Proteins:

It is amazing that all the different types of proteins are initially synthesized as polymers of only 20 amino acids, known as the common amino acids, the common amino acids are defined as those amino acids for which a specific codon exists in the DNA genetic code, there are 20 amino acids for which DNA codon are known, the process of the reading of the DNA code, resulting in the polymerization of amino acids of a specific sequence into the proteins based on the DNA code, In this chapter we shall discus only the protein of this genetically controlled synthetic process,

For example

Methionine = C5H11NO2S = 151.75 m/g

Methionine = AUG, = mRNA Codons

(GUANINE)

  = a2 + b2 = c2

  = a2 = Methionine and b2 = Guanine = c2

  = a2 = 151.75 m/g and b2 = 151.13 g/mol = c2

  = a151.75 + b151.13 = c2

  = a + b = 151.13 / 151.13 (G) = 1

  = a + b = 1 Guanine for mRNA Methionine,

mRNA Methionine Non-polar = 1 Guanine

tRNA Methionine Non-polar = 0 Guanine

(URACIL)

  = a2 + b2 = c2 (Uracil)

  = a2 = Methionine and b2 = Uracil = c2

  = a + b = 35591.51323424 = c2

  = a + b = 35591.51323424 / 317.53 (10CH2OH) = 112.0868

  = a + b = 112.0868 / 112 (U) = 1

  = a + b = 1 Uracil for mRNA Methionine,

mRNA Cysteine Non-polar = 1 Uracil

tRNA Cysteine Non-polar = 0 Uracil

(ADENINE)

  = a2 + b2 = c2

  = a2 = Methionine and b2 = Adenine = c2

  = a2 = 151.75 m/g and b2 = 135.13 g/mol = c2

  = 23028.0625 + 18260.1169 = c2

  = a + b = 41288.1794 = c2

  = a + b = 41288.1794 / 305.54 (3SO3 + 2CH2OH + H2) = 135.13

  = a + b = 135.13 / 135.13 (A) = 1

  = a + b = 1 Adenine for mRNA Methionine,

mRNA Methionine Non-polar = 1 Adenine

tRNA Methionine Non-polar = 0 Adenine

Total Codons = G1 + U1 + A1 + = 3

Methionine = AUG, = mRNA Codons

There are 20 amino acids for which mRNA codon are known, the process of the reading of the mRNA code, resulting in the polymerization of amino acids of a specific sequence into the proteins based on the mRNA code,

The genetically controlled synthetic process =

= (CH2OCOC17H35 = 306.25 Tri-stcarin)

= (10CH2OH)

= (3SO3 + 2CH2OH + H2)

Main Functions of Methionine

Assists in breakdown of fats; (CH2OCOC17H35 = 306.25 Tri-stcarin)

Precursor of the amino acids Cysteine (and Cystine) and Taurine.

Helps reduce blood cholesterol levels, (10CH2OH)

Antioxidant.

Assists in the removal of toxic wastes from the liver, (10CH2OH)

One of the sulfur-containing aminos (the others being Cysteine and the minor amino acid, Taurine). The sulfur-containing amino acids act as anti-oxidants which neutralize free radicals,

Helps prevent disorder of hair, skin, and nails due to sulfur and anti-oxidant activity, (3SO3 + 2CH2OH + H2)

Precursor to Carnitine,Melatonin (the natural sleep aid) and Choline (part of the neurotransmitter, Acetylcholine).

Involved in the breakdown of Epinephrine, Histamine, and Nicotinic Acid, (CH2OCOC17H35 = 306.25 Tri-stcarin)

Required for synthesis of RNA and DNA, (10CH2OH)

Natural chelating agent for heavy metals, such as lead and mercury.
